It is crucial to determine which elements should be included in data descriptions, which attributes should be annotated, and how consistent naming conventions can be established—for example, when describing instruments (e.g., type, manufacturer, model), as supported by the PID Inst Schema. Frameworks such as I-ADOPT provide valuable guidance for representing measurable quantities, which are often complex compositions involving the quantity itself, the property of interest, the observed entity or matrix, and other contextual elements.
