- Full Text: The policy – as a self-commitment – is a stand-alone document. A list of FAQ is not sufficient. The policy must be linked to directly from the service’s main page and must be a document in and of itself. The policy comprises statements on the following: A definition of the operators’ rights and obligations. A definition of the authors’ and publishers’ rights and obligations when using the service to publish their documents. A description of the document types published via the service, and requirements with regard to the documents’ content and technical quality. A specification of the minimum timespan that documents pub-lished with the service will be available, plus the respective guarantee. A statement on long-term archiving of the documents. A statement on the technical operation of the service. A statement on Open Access. Information on how the service deals with document versions and deletions. Guidelines and recommendations for authors with regard to Open Access. Naming and description of the tools used to providethe service. Information on the conditions under which third parties may use the repository’s metadata.
